BODEGA at iso

BODEGA is our mobile, multidisciplinary home. Wherever we touch down, we carefully construct a haven for newfound sounds and heartfelt connections. A platform where odd, bold and forward arts take center stage. A warm and welcoming space for nocturnal wonder.

Our big launch night is set to take place on December 17, 2022, at iso Amsterdam – which, much like BODEGA, is an ever-evolving stage for the cultural community. Not only is iso a vibey habitat with 30+ ateliers and global artists from all walks of life, its spacious setup also lends itself to assembling a unique party perspective shaped by sound, light, art and architecture.

BODEGA welcomes Al Wootton, Tash LC and Giaderza — three artists who are carving out their own, genre-transcending, global sound. Scenography and spacial interventions by studio RAITO, and AI artist Jan Zuiderveld will present his algorithmic ‘Dream Machine’.

Tickets for BODEGA at iso are available here. Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter for friend updates, and we hope to see you soon!

This project is supported by the AFK (Amsterdam Fund for the Arts)

The dance floor

This amazing space at iso will have been transformed into a proper dance floor – designed by RAITO – for the very first edition of BODEGA.

Program

We’re beyond proud to reveal a music line-up that’ll stir both adventurous spirits and restless feet. Three first-class artists, who are carving out their own, genre-transcending and global sound, will guide you into the night: Al Wootton, Giaderza and Tash LC.

At BODEGA, forward art and music go hand in hand. That’s why we have invited Jan Zuiderveld to be an integral part of our launch party.

On December 17th you’re invited to connect with the Dream Machine: a hacked Xerox photocopier from the 00s that generates an artistic image based on (a scan of) your input. For this creative process you don’t need prior art experience or knowledge – all you have to do is find the drawing table and the big red button.

Scenography

We’re proud to partner with RAITO for the spatial design of BODEGA at iso, our launch night on December 17th. Inspired by minimalist and Japanese aesthetics, RAITO has created a custom scenography that embraces iso’s warehouse construction but also enriches it through organic light and spatial interventions.

Based on RAITO’s investigation of crowd movement and interaction, its design concept for iso is centred around sparking genuine club connections.

You’ll be welcomed to BODEGA at the pivotal ‘Rendezvous Square’, the first of three zones and an emblematic area for bringing together a warm, open and forward community.

Before setting foot on our dance floor, you’ll pass through the transitional archway. It’s custom design makes use of bright light, in stark contrast with our organically lit space, to trigger your awareness and boost your serotonin levels before letting it all out.

There’s no such thing as a perfect dance floor – but this dynamic design by RAITO comes pretty damn close. With soft minimalism as its starting point, RAITO is constructing a intimate dance floor featuring sleek, straight lines, as well as a lighting composition that organically enhances the raw space that’s iso Amsterdam.

We can’t wait to welcome you into the BODEGA universe.

Al Wootton is an operator of the in-betweens. What he brings to the booth is sparse but soulful, offbeat but rhythmic, deep but energetic – and while each element in his sets is meticulously selected, the resulting energy is raw and effortless. Beyond being a DJ with incredible taste, Al Wootton is known for his work as a producer, artist and radio host, as the head of TRULE and Amidah Recordings, and as one third of the band Holy Tongue. Welcome to the sweet space between techno and dub, between body and spirit, between workout and hypnosis.

A music curator at heart, Giaderza is the man behind the forward line-ups of Rotterdam’s club/community space MONO. When he steps into the booth himself, this thorough selector brings the equally fun and obscure finds ensuing from his deepest sound explorations. Call him eclectic or iconoclastic – creating a contagious collage of seemingly mismatching genres, tempos, melodies and moods is what Giaderza does best.

There’s little limit to the technicolour sound palette of Tash LC. She’s hailed as one of the UK’s most exciting new club talents, a fresh acclaim she’s largely gained through her constant stream of captivating broadcasts. Aside from the club, radio stations such as NTS, Worldwide FM and BBC Radio 1Xtra have become this DJ’s second home, and the roof under which she brings together Afro-jazz, Kuduro, Gqom and esoteric club sounds, to name a few. What we love most about Tash LC, however, is her ability to lift a dance floor to hopeful new heights.

Jan Zuiderveld is an Artificial Intelligence graduate who currently researches applications of machine learning in art. His inspiration is found in the exchange between humans and AI, and his artistic practice highlights the power of machine learning as a tool to enhance creativity. Zuiderveld’s work shows the artistic possibilities that machine learning generates for anyone, even those that do not feel creative enough to create.
